The neighbors came over to look at taking down some maple trees that were shading my solar panels. The one year old had no mittens on – just a spare pair of socks over her little hands! So I went in and knit a pair: And now those trees are no longer shading my solar panels! (And I hope her hands are warm.)

Awesome! Cute mittens. I cringe when you cut down maples. I love those trees. But, totally understand the reason. Are you totally off the electric grid or is that only supplemental?

Greetings –
I’m what the US calls “grid-tied” meaning that while I produce a little more electricity than I use, they get my output, and I use electricity from the grid when I’m not producing. My credit goes up in spring and fall – higher sun, no leaves, no snow – and I draw it down summer and winter. Works for me!
